Where It All Started......

Tasty Blend Foods, Inc. was founded in April of 1980 by Roy Elswick, a young man - with a big dream. Elswick dreamed of creating mixes with a made from scratch taste. Elswick's mother used to cook up home made meals by adding 'a pinch' of this, and 'a dash' of that - the only trouble is - who really knows what 'a pinch' and 'a dash' really is!? Roy wanted to make it possible for anybody to make made from scratch dishes without all the work, just like his mom used to make! Two thousand pounds of flour, and two hundred gallons of buttermilk later - Elswick's dream became a reality.

Since it's inception in the early 80's, Tasty Blend Foods has been on the fast track to success! The first 'company vehicle' that Elswick purchased was a 1970 Winnebago Motor home - which he had fully equipped with a deep fryer and oven to do sales presentations. At this time Elswick had all of his products blended and packaged by other companies. Over the years the 'Teays Valley' brand has become a household name. The product line has grown to cover a wide variety of areas - from specialty gravies, cakes, cornbread's, soups, breadings, pancakes and many more. Not only does Tasty Blend Foods, Inc. manufacture their own line of retail and foodservice products - we also have a vast array of private labels that we blend and manufacture.

Since the Winnebago days, Elswick has continued expanding his manufacturing capabilities by purchasing state of the art equipment and continually expanding his operating facility. In January of 2006 Elswick moved in to his newly built 58,000 square foot manufacturing facility that sits on ten acres of land.
